“Realistic & Contemporary Impressionism & Abstract Paintings”

Kay started with watercolor then added collage. In her paintings she captures the beauty and feeling of the subject. Her liberal use of vivid colors brings a uniqueness to her paintings which reveals her strong ties and personal affection for the Southwest. Her more recent works are acrylic on canvas or board. She has become more contemporary, ranging from impressionism to slightly abstract. But she also continues to paint realism. Bright colors remain a constant in all her work. And she is always experimenting with new techniques and ideas.

Kay is a Signature Member of the New Mexico Watercolor Society and has served on its board in various positions. She is a member of the National League of American Pen Women. She studied at the La Romita School of Art in Umbria, Italy and The University of New Mexico, attended workshops and classes taught by local and internationally known artists and painted in Spain. Her works have been juried into the New Mexico Arts & Crafts Fair, the New Mexico State Fair Fine Arts Exhibition, the New Mexico State Fair Hispanic Exhibition, the New Mexico Watercolor Society Show, the National Small Exhibit, the MasterWorks of New Mexico Exhibition, the Palace of Governors (Santa Fe), the cover of the Summer 2000 UNM Continuing Education Catalog, and other local and regional shows. She also has shown at the Albuquerque Press Club and the Mill Atelier Gallery (Santa Fe). Her paintings are also displayed in the Amapola Gallery in Albuquerque’s Old Town.
